ISRAEL – Der Generalsekretär des Ökumenischen Rates der Kirchen (ÖRK), Pfr. Dr. Samuel Kobia, wird vom 21. bis 26. Juni Mitgliedskirchen und christliche Gemeinden in den besetzten palästinensischen Gebieten und in Israel besuchen. Mit dem Besuch, der direkt nach der Eröffnung des vom ÖRK unterstützten Ökumenischen Palästina/Israel-Forum in Amman, Jordanien, stattfindet (siehe ÖRK-Pressemitteilung vom 12. Juni), soll die weltweite Solidarität der Kirchen mit den Kirchen im heiligen Land zum Ausdruck gebracht werden und ausserdem unsere Sorge um die Zukunft der beiden vom israelisch-palästinensischen Konflikt betroffenen Völker übermittelt werden.
“Die Mitgliedskirchen des ÖRK glauben, dass christliche Gemeinschaften im Heiligen Land ein historischer und wesentlicher Bestandteil der Region sind und dass ihre Zukunft und ihr Wohl mit der Zukunft und dem Wohl von Muslimen und Juden verbunden ist,” sagt Kobia.

(ÖRK) – Nach 40 Jahren Besetzung ist Frieden in Palästina und Israel dringend notwendig. Um dies zu unterstreichen, veranstalten der Ökumenische Rat der Kirchen sowie Mitgliedskirchen und kirchliche Organisationen anlässlich des diesjährigen Jahrestag des Krieges zwischen Arabern und Israelis im Jahre 1967 vom 3.-9. Juni 2007 eine Woche mit Gebeten, Seminaren und Fürsprachearbeit. Damit wollen sie das Bewusstsein in Kirchen und in der Zivilgesellschaft schärfen und den Regierungen die Notwendigkeit neuer Bemühungen vor Augen halten, den Konflikt zu beenden und eine gerechte Lösung auszuhandeln.
Teilnehmende von Australien bis Schweden, von Kanada bis Südafrika veranstalten Friedensmärsche, werden bei ihren Regierungen vorstellig oder halten öffentliche Foren ab. Zum Auftakt der Woche findet am Sonntag, dem 3. Juni, in Jerusalem ein ökumenischer Gottesdienst statt.

JERUSALEM – Am ersten Tag seiner Reise ins Heilige Land hat der Rat der Evangelischen Kirche in Deutschland (EKD) die Gedenkstätte Yad Vashem besucht. Nachfolgend der Wortlaut des Grußwortes, das der Vorsitzende des Rates der EKD, Bischof Wolfgang Huber, bei dieser Gelegenheit sprach:
“Der Rat der Evangelischen Kirche in Deutschland unternimmt eine Begegnungsreise durch das Heilige Land. Das geschieht in dieser Form zum ersten Mal. Wir werden viele Menschen treffen, alte Kontakte auffrischen, neue Begegnungen erleben, wir werden von Schwierigkeiten der christlichen Kirchen hören, aber auch Klärungen und Fortschritte der Verständigung feiern können. Aber der Morgen des ersten Tages unserer Reise führt uns – nach der freundlichen Begrüßung gestern Abend durch den deutschen Botschafter, den Propst und die deutsche evangelische Gemeinde – zuerst hierher, nach Yad Vashem, an den Ort der Erinnerung und der Mahnung.

ROTTENBURG – Der Michael-Sattler-Friedenspreis geht 2007 an das Projekt „Zelt der Völker – Menschen bauen Brücken” in Palästina. Mit dem Preis würdigt das Deutsche Mennonitische Friedenskomitee (DMFK) den kreativen und gewaltfreien Einsatz der christlich palästinensischen Familie Nassar gegen illegale Landnahme. Der Preis wird am 20.5.07 gegen Abend in Rottenburg/Neckar verliehen. Unterstützt wird die Preisverleihung von der örtlichen Evangelischen und Katholischen Kirche, sowie von der Stadt Rottenburg.
Im Nahostkonflikt spielen Land und Besitzansprüche darauf eine besondere Rolle. Wem gehört das Land? Das Recht der Nassars auf ihr Land auf einem Hügel südlich von Bethlehem ist durch Papiere aller Mächte, die Palästina seit hundert Jahren beherrschten, verbrieft. Sie haben osmanische, britische, jordanische und israelische Papiere. Dennoch erheben israelische Siedler Anspruch auf ihr Land.
