GENF – Die Einheit der chinesischen Protestanten sei ein wesentlicher Grund für das rasche Wachstum der Kirche in China, erklärte der Generalsekretär des Chinesischen Christenrates, Pastor Kan Baoping, während eines Besuches im Ökumenischen Zentrum in Genf, Schweiz. Eine siebenköpfige Delegation mit hochrangigen Führungsverantwortlichen des Chinesischen Christenrates traf am Montag, 6. Dezember, den Generalsekretär des Ökumenischen Rates der Kirchen (ÖRK) und weitere Mitarbeitende kirchlicher Organisationen mit Sitz im Ökumenischen Zentrum.
Es handelte sich um den vierten derartigen Besuch im ÖRK-Sekretariat seit der Gründung des postkonfessionellen Chinesischen Christenrates (CCC) 1980. Der letzte Besuch hatte im Jahr 2003 stattgefunden. Der CCC, der 2009 rund 19 Millionen Kirchenglieder zählte, war 1991 auf der Vollversammlung in Canberra als Mitglied im ÖRK offiziell aufgenommen und so mit der weltweiten Kirchengemeinschaft wieder vereint worden. Bei einem Runden Tisch, organisiert von der ÖRK-Kommission der Kirchen für Internationale Angelegenheiten, hielten die Delegationsmitglieder Vorträge zu drei Themen, die für Leben und Zeugnis der Kirche in China wesentlich sind – „Religionspolitik in China“, „Die Rolle der Religion bei der Förderung einer ‚harmonischen Gesellschaft’“ und „Die Rolle der Kirche im heutigen China“.
Mit Blick auf die Religionspolitik und die Beziehungen zwischen Kirche und Staat war sich die Delegation einig, dass derzeit eine „goldene Ära für die Entwicklung der Religionen in China“ angebrochen sei. Die Kirche in China wirke außerdem auf verschiedenen Wegen mit, um vor Ort eine „harmonische Gesellschaft“ zu fördern.
CCC-Generalsekretär Kan Baoping erklärte, dass religiöse Gemeinschaften allgemein und insbesondere die protestantische Kirche in den letzten 30 Jahren in China ein rasantes Wachstum erlebt hätten. Er sagte, die Überwindung konfessioneller Spaltungen sei einer der Gründe für diese Vitalität der Kirchen. Sie sei auch deshalb wichtig, weil die chinesische Kultur mehr Wert auf Gemeinsamkeiten lege als auf Unterschiede.

BEJING – (APD) Die Anfang 2007 in China offiziell verbreitete Nachricht, dass die Zahl der Angehörigen der Religionen in der Volksrepublik China viel grösser sei, als bisher angenommen, wird unter China-Kennern als eine gewisse “Sensation” bezeichnet. Wie der Informationsdienst “China Heute” in Sankt Augustin (Deutschland) berichtet, hat China nach einer neuen Statistik zwischen 300 bis 400 Millionen gläubige Menschen; 31,4% der Chinesen im Alter über 16 glaubten an eine Religion. 67,4% der gläubigen Menschen bekennen sich zu den fünf Hauptreligionen: Daoismus, Buddhismus, Katholizismus, Protestantismus und Islam. Der Rest bekenne sich zur traditionellen chinesischen Volksreligiosität, was gleichzeitig ein Zeichen ihrer grossen Revitalisierung ist.
Die von der offiziellen Nachrichtenagentur Xinhua und vom chinesischen Staatsfernsehen veröffentlichten neuen Zahlen sind das Ergebnis einer Erhebung, die von den Professoren Tong Shuun und Liu Zhongyu von der Shanghaier Lehrer-Universität unter 4.500 Personen durchgeführt wurde.
