SIBIU – (APD) Wie erwartet hat Papst Benedikt XVI. eine Gruss-Botschaft an die Teilnehmer der Dritten Europäischen Ökumenischen Versammlung geschickt. Das ökumenische Kirchentreffen tagt seit dem 4. September im rumänischen Sibiu. Der Vatikan wird in Sibiu vom deutschen Kurienkardinal Walter Kasper vertreten. In dem Papst-Schreiben, das am 20. August in Castel Gandolfo verfasst und heute veröffentlicht wurde, bekennt sich der Papst zum Einsatz für die Ökumene und zur – so wörtlich – “Einheit in legitimer Vielfalt”.
Wörtlich schreibt Benedikt: “Wirklicher Dialog entsteht erst, wo nicht nur das Wort, sondern wo auch Hören ist… So betrifft der Dialog nicht bloss den Bereich des Wissens und dessen, was wir tun können. Er bringt vielmehr die glaubende Person, ja den Herrn in unserer Mitte selber zur Sprache.” Für den künftigen Weg zur Einheit der Christen seien zwei Dinge “richtungweisend”: “der Dialog der Wahrheit und die Begegnung im Zeichen der Brüderlichkeit”. Wichtig sei auch der so genannte “geistliche Ökumenismus”.

TOULOUSE – Evangelikale und Pfingstkirchen beteiligen sich erstmals an einer Konsultation über Bekehrung im Rahmen des gemeinsamen Studienprozesses von Vatikan und Ökumenischem Rat der Kirchen (ÖRK). Die Konsultation in Toulouse vom 8. bis 12. August vollzieht damit einen weiteren Schritt hin zu dem Ziel eines gemeinsamen Verhaltenskodex für Bemühungen, Menschen zum Christentum zu bekehren.
Der dreijährige gemeinsame Studienprozess, der nun in die zweite Phase geht, hatte im Mai letzten Jahres mit einer Tagung begonnen, die bekräftigte, dass Religionsfreiheit als Menschenrecht grundsätzlich nicht zur Disposition stehen dürfe und alle Menschen jederzeit auf dieses Recht Anspruch hätten. MAGDEBURG – Der Magdeburger Bischof Feige wandte sich in einem offenen Brief über die jüngste römische Erklärung zur Ökumene an die evangelischen Christen. Er bezeichnet die Verlautbarung als “Salz in eine offene Wunde”.
Hier der Brief im Wortlaut: Liebe evangelische Schwestern und Brüder!
Ich kann es verstehen, wenn Sie die jüngste römische Erklärung schmerzt. Leider ist damit wieder Salz in eine offene Wunde gestreut worden; warum schon wieder und gerade jetzt, bleibt auch mir verborgen. Andererseits ist die grundsätzliche ökumenische Öffnung, die das II. Vatikanische Konzil gebracht hat, nicht zurückgenommen worden. Und das sollte man mindestens genauso beachten.

GENF (LWI) – Mit Bestürzung und Enttäuschung hat der Lutherische Weltbund (LWB) auf die von der römisch-katholischen Kongregation für die Glaubenslehre veröffentlichten „Antworten auf Fragen zu einigen Aspekten bezüglich der Lehre über die Kirche“ reagiert. In dem Dokument hatte die vatikanische Glaubenskongregation in dieser Woche für römisch-katholische TheologInnen festgelegt, dass der Titel „Kirche“ nicht auf christliche Gemeinschaften Anwendung finden soll, wie beispielsweise für den LWB und seine Mitgliedskirchen.

Dr. Ishmael Noko, dass lutherische Kirchen das Kirchenverständnis und die Darstellung der gelebten Glaubenswirklichkeit, wie sie in den „Antworten“ beschrieben seien, nicht akzeptieren könnten. „Wir verstehen uns als Kirche im vollen Sinn, in der das Evangelium auf rechte Weise gepredigt und die Sakramente auf rechte Weise verwaltet werden“, so Noko.
