LIMBURG / WIESBADEN / FRANKFURT. Aus dem Wasser der Taufe kommt nach den Worten von Bischof Dr. Franz Peter Tebartz-van Elst (Limburg) „die Kraft, die unser Leben hält“. Bei einem Vespergottesdienst mit Vertretern der orthodoxen Kirchen sagte der Bischof am Freitagabend (6.6.) im Limburger Dom: “Dieser heilige Ursprung ist die Quelle der Einheit. Wer eintaucht in den heiligen Anfang, gelangt in den Strom, der Einheit will und Einheit sucht.“ Das Wasser der Taufe sei die Quelle, die davor bewahre, dass Menschen in den Spannungen des Lebens zerrissen werden.
Der Vespergottesdienst im Dom (Video dazu unter: www.bistumlimburg.de) war Auftakt einer Begegnung, zu der Bischof Franz-Peter Tebartz-van Elst die Repräsentanten der christlich-orthodoxen Gemeinden im Bistum Limburg eingeladen hatte. So waren Erzpriester der griechisch-orthodoxen Kirche, der rumänisch-orthodoxen Kirche, der russisch-orthodoxen Kirche sowie Archimandriten der serbisch-orthodoxen Kirche in den Dom nach Limburg gekommen.

BERLIN – Mit einem ökumenischen Gottesdienst in der Berliner Gedenkstätte Plötzensee haben am Freitag die beiden großen Kirchen des gescheiterten Hitler-Attentats vor 63 Jahren gedacht. Der katholische Pater Karl Meyer aus Hamburg erinnerte in seiner Predigt vor rund 200 Gottesdienstbesuchern an Widerstandskämpfer und Oppositionelle des Nazi-Regimes, die in Plötzensee hingerichtet wurden.
Zum Andenken an den 20. Juli 1944 gehörten nicht bloß “Reden und später Beifall”. Dieses verlange vielmehr Achtsamkeit gegenüber Fremdenfeindlichkeit und “Feldern sich anbahnender Vernichtung”, zu denen der katholische Geistliche auch Abtreibung und den Umgang mit Bootsflüchtlingen und alten Menschen zählte.

(ÖRK) – Nach 40 Jahren Besetzung ist Frieden in Palästina und Israel dringend notwendig. Um dies zu unterstreichen, veranstalten der Ökumenische Rat der Kirchen sowie Mitgliedskirchen und kirchliche Organisationen anlässlich des diesjährigen Jahrestag des Krieges zwischen Arabern und Israelis im Jahre 1967 vom 3.-9. Juni 2007 eine Woche mit Gebeten, Seminaren und Fürsprachearbeit. Damit wollen sie das Bewusstsein in Kirchen und in der Zivilgesellschaft schärfen und den Regierungen die Notwendigkeit neuer Bemühungen vor Augen halten, den Konflikt zu beenden und eine gerechte Lösung auszuhandeln.
Teilnehmende von Australien bis Schweden, von Kanada bis Südafrika veranstalten Friedensmärsche, werden bei ihren Regierungen vorstellig oder halten öffentliche Foren ab. Zum Auftakt der Woche findet am Sonntag, dem 3. Juni, in Jerusalem ein ökumenischer Gottesdienst statt.

Der Gottesdienst findet am kommenden Mittwoch, 23. Mai, in der Berliner Kaiser-Wilhelm-Gedächtnis-Kirche statt. Er beginnt um 10 Uhr. Eingeladen sind insbesondere zivilgesellschaftlich engagierte junge Menschen und Vertreter von Einrichtungen, die sich gegen Extremismus und Gewalt in der Gesellschaft einsetzen.
Der Gottesdienst wird von der Dienststelle des Bevollmächtigten des Rates der EKD bei der Bundesrepublik Deutschland und der Europäischen Union und vom Kommissariat der Deutschen Bischöfe in Berlin veranstaltet. Für die Koptisch-Orthodoxe Kirche wird Bischof Damian teilnehmen. Für die musikalische Begleitung sorgt der Berliner Gospelchor “Spirited” unter der Leitung von Christoph Zschunke.
