ROTTENBURG – Der Michael-Sattler-Friedenspreis geht 2007 an das Projekt „Zelt der Völker – Menschen bauen Brücken” in Palästina. Mit dem Preis würdigt das Deutsche Mennonitische Friedenskomitee (DMFK) den kreativen und gewaltfreien Einsatz der christlich palästinensischen Familie Nassar gegen illegale Landnahme. Der Preis wird am 20.5.07 gegen Abend in Rottenburg/Neckar verliehen. Unterstützt wird die Preisverleihung von der örtlichen Evangelischen und Katholischen Kirche, sowie von der Stadt Rottenburg.
Im Nahostkonflikt spielen Land und Besitzansprüche darauf eine besondere Rolle. Wem gehört das Land? Das Recht der Nassars auf ihr Land auf einem Hügel südlich von Bethlehem ist durch Papiere aller Mächte, die Palästina seit hundert Jahren beherrschten, verbrieft. Sie haben osmanische, britische, jordanische und israelische Papiere. Dennoch erheben israelische Siedler Anspruch auf ihr Land.

HARARE – Angesichts der sich zuspitzenden politischen und ökonomischen Krise in Simbabwe haben die Kirchen im Land in der Karwoche begonnen, wöchentliche Friedensgebete anzubieten. Am vergangenen Sonntag wurde in der deutschsprachigen evangelischen Gemeinde in Harare der deutsche Pfarrer Klaus-Peter Edinger in sein Amt eingeführt. Ruth Gütter, Afrikareferentin im Kirchenamt der Evangelischen Kirche in Deutschland (EKD), die anlässlich der Einführung in das afrikanische Land gereist war, zeigte sich nach ihrer Rückkehr beeindruckt vom Engagement der Kirchen in der schwierigen Lage. “Es ist für die Kirchen in Simbabwe von großer Bedeutung, von der ökumenischen Gemeinschaft unterstützt zu werden” sagte sie.

GENF – Kirchen und Gruppen werden auch dieses Jahr, in weniger als sechs Monaten, wieder aufgerufen werden, am Freitag, 21. September den Internationalen Gebetstag für den Frieden zu begehen. Dieser findet im Rahmen des Internationalen Tages des Friedens statt.
Jedes Jahr verpflichten sich mehr Menschen, Gruppen, Kirchen und Gemeinschaften dazu, einen Tag des Gebets, der Meditation oder anderen Formen geistlichen Innehaltens zugunsten des Friedens zu widmen.
Das Dekadebüro des Ökumenischen Rats der Kirchen wird wiederum Gebete und weitere Materialien zur Verfügung stellen, dieses Jahr im Zusammenhang mit dem Dekadenschwerpunkt Europa und dem Thema “Mach mich zu einem Werkzeug des Friedens”.

Der Exekutivausschuss des Ökumenischen Rates der Kirchen (ÖRK) hat Anfang März konkrete Pläne gebilligt, Kirchen in aller Welt für den Frieden zu mobilisieren. Diese Initiative, die als groß angelegte Mobilisierungsstrategie geplant ist, wird mit einer Internationalen Ökumenischen Friedensversammlung abschließen, die Anfang Mai 2011 stattfinden und eine Ökumenische Erklärung zum gerechten Frieden verabschieden soll.
Den Planungen zufolge sollen rund 50 ökumenische Teams (”Lebendige Briefe”) in den Jahren 2007 bis 2011 Kirchen besuchen, die in einem von Gewalt geprägten Umfeld leben. Die Teams werden als “lebendige Briefe” konkret Solidarität zum Ausdruck bringen und versuchen, bereits gewonnene Einsichten mit anderen zu teilen und gegenseitiges Lernen zu fördern. 2007 werden mindestens drei Besuche stattfinden und in den Jahren 2008 bis 2010 sind rund 15 Besuche pro Jahr vorgesehen.
