GENF – Der Ökumenische Rat der Kirchen (ÖRK) bedauert in einer Pressemeldung die Weitergabe einer Kandidatenliste für das Amt des Generalsekretärs. Der Rat selbst habe keinerlei Namen publik gemacht und könne die Richtigkeit der Liste nicht bestätigen, erklärte der Vorsitzende des ÖRK-Zentralausschusses, Walter Altmann, in Genf. “Ecumenical News International” (ENI) hatte im Mai eine Liste mit sechs Kandidaten veröffentlicht, die für die Nachfolge von Rev. Dr Samuel Kobia in Frage kommen.
Die Namen auf der Liste waren der norwegische Lutheraner Olav Fykse Tveit, der reformierte südkoreanische Theologe Seong-Won Park, Robert Anderson von der Kirche von Schottland, der südafrikanische Methodist Daryl Balia, der irische Anglikaner Canon Kenneth Kearon sowie der in Brasilien geborene mennonitische Theologe Pfr. Dr. Fernando Enns, der derzeit die Stiftungsdozentur “Theologie der Friedenskirchen” an der Universität Hamburg inne hat.
Die Wahl des neuen ÖRK-Generalsekretärs findet während der Sitzung des Zentralausschusses vom 25. August bis 2. September in Genf statt. Der 62-jährige Amtsinhaber hatte im vergangenen Jahr überraschend seinen Verzicht auf eine Wiederwahl erklärt.
Dem ÖRK gehören 349 Kirchen und kirchliche Gemeinschaften aus 110 Ländern an.
