NEW YORK – (APD) Der Generalsekretär der Vereinten Nationen (UNO), Ban Ki-moon, hat eine weitere Zusammenarbeit mit der römisch-katholischen Kirche zugesichert, um “eine Welt von bleibender Gerechtigkeit und Frieden” zu schaffen.
Die Vereinten Nationen mit ihren 192 Mitgliedsstaaten vertreten keine Religion, sagte UN-Generalsekretär Ban bei einer Veranstaltung zum ersten Jahrestag der Rede Papst Benedikts XVI. vor den Vereinten Nationen in New York. Trotzdem teile er viele gemeinsame Werte mit dem Papst, allen voran den Glauben an die angeborene Würde und die gleichen Rechte für jedes menschliche Wesen, so Ban Ki-moon.
Gemeinsame Anliegen von UNO und römisch-katholischer Kirche seien auch der Kampf gegen Armut und Ungleichheit, der Einsatz für Menschenrechte, Gerechtigkeit und Rechtsstaatlichkeit sowie zur Konfliktprävention und gegen Kernwaffen, betonte der UN-Chefbeamte. Papst Benedikt sprach 2008 als dritter Papst vor der UNO. In seiner Rede bekräftigte er die Bedeutung der Menschenrechte und betonte zugleich, dass diese Rechte der “Offenheit auf Gott” verpflichtet seien.
Als erster Pontifex besuchte Papst Paul VI. im Oktober 1965 die Vereinten Nationen. Papst Johannes Paul II. sprach 1979 und 1995 vor der Staatengemeinschaft. Der Heilige Stuhl, wie der Vatikan völkerrechtlich heisst, ist auf eigenen Wunsch hin kein UN-Mitglied, hat aber seit 1964 permanenten Beobachterstatus.
Der südkoreanische Diplomat und Politiker Ban wurde im Dezember 2006 als Generalsekretär der Vereinten Nationen vereidigt und trat sein Amt offiziell am 1. Januar 2007 an. Von 2004 bis 2006 war Ban Aussenminister Südkoreas.

Spannend ist, dass der UN-Generalsekretär Ban von gemeinsamen Aufgaben bzw. Anliegen spricht, aber es ist doch mehr als deutlich, dass die Wege zum Teil nicht weiter auseinander liegen.
Das beste Beispiel ist die “No-Kondom”-Meinung, die der Papst in Afrika offensiv vertreten hat…
