GENF (APD) – Der Ökumenische Rat der Kirchen (ÖRK) in Genf hat in einer Grussadresse die bei der XII. ordentlichen Generalversammlung der Weltbischofssynode in Rom tagenden römisch-katholischen Bischöfe zum Voranschreiten in der Ökumene ermutigt. Die Suche nach der sichtbaren Einheit aller Christen sei unverzichtbarer Bestandteil des Lebens und der Sendung der Kirche, schrieb ÖRK-Generalsekretär Pfarrer Samuel Kobia in einem Grusswort an die Weltbischofssynode. Die Botschaft wurde am 7. Oktober vin Rom or den über 250 Bischöfen aus allen Kontinenten sowie mehr als 100 weiteren Experten und Beobachtern des Bischofstreffens von Metropolitanerzbischof Dr. Nifon von Targoviste verlesen.
Bis zum 26. Oktober berät die Weltbischofsynode über die Bedeutung der Bibel für das Leben und die Sendung der Kirche. Das Thema der Synode – “Das Wort Gottes im Leben und in der Sendung der Kirche” – verspreche eine tiefe spirituelle Erneuerung, so Kobia. Es sei das Wort Gottes, das die Kirche aufbaue und Menschen zu glaubwürdigen Jüngern Christi mache. Solche Jüngerschaft sei “bitter nötig in einer Welt, die von Konflikten und Krieg zerrissen, zwischen Arm und Reich geteilt und von religiösem Hass und Gewalt heimgesucht ist”, hiess es in der Botschaft des Weltkirchenrates.
In seiner Eröffnungspredigt am 5. Oktober sagte Benedikt XVI. die Bibel müsse im Mittelpunkt jedes christlichen Lebens stehen und alle Bereiche erfassen: Familie, Schule, Kultur, Arbeitswelt und Freizeit. Denn nur das Wort Gottes könne letztlich die Herzen der Menschen erreichen und verändern. Die Synode müsse deutlich machen, wie die Kirche vom Wort Gottes lebt und abhängt. Daher sei es unverzichtbar, dass die Kirche diese Botschaft kennt und glaubwürdig lebt und weitergibt – trotz der Schwäche und Unvollkommenheit ihrer Mitglieder, so der Papst.
Das römisch-katholische Kirchenoberhaupt nahm bei der ersten Sitzung der Bischofssynode am 6. Oktober auch Bezug auf die jüngsten Entwicklungen im Weltfinanzsystem. Die globale Finanzmarktkrise sei eine Mahnung, sich nicht auf falsche Werte zu verlassen. Der Zusammenbruch der grossen Banken zeige, dass Geld einfach verschwinden könne und letztlich “nichts” sei, sagte der Papst. Wer nur auf Sichtbares, auf “den Erfolg, die Karriere, das Geld” setze, baue auf Sand. Bestand habe allein das Wort Gottes, so Benedikt XVI. in seiner frei formulierten Ansprache. Das Wort Gottes sei die wahre Wirklichkeit, auf der man das Leben aufbauen könne. Der wahre “Realist” sei der, der auf die Realität des Wortes Gottes baue.
