STUTTGART – Nach Einschätzung der evangelischen Entwicklungshilfeorganisation “Brot für die Welt” ist der G 8-Gipfel in Japan doppelt gescheitert. “Die selbsternannten Weltführer speisen uns mit Absichtserklärungen ab, wo wir kurzfristig wirksame Maßnahmen und langfristig überzeugende Visionen erwartet haben, um den Tsunami aus Hunger und Klimawandel zu bewältigen. Das ist ein Schlag ins Gesicht der Armen”, kritisiert Thomas Hirsch, Klimaexperte bei “Brot für die Welt”. Die Klima- und Hungerkrise werde so weitere Millionen von Opfern kosten, warnte er.
Die gemeinsame Erklärung zu Klimawandel und Energiesicherheit, auf die sich die G 8-Staaten und die wirtschaftlich schnell wachsenden Staaten Australien, Brasilien, China, Indien, Indonesien, Südkorea, Mexiko und Südafrika heute geeinigt haben, bleibt nach Ansicht der Organisation sogar noch deutlich hinter der eigentlichen Abschlusserklärung der G 8 zurück, weil jegliche Konkretisierung fehle. “Das zeigt, dass es unter den Wirtschaftsmächten an Ernsthaftigkeit, Entschlossenheit und Vertrauen fehlt. Die G 8, die allein fast zwei Drittel der Treibhausgase zu verantworten haben, werden ihrer Vorbild- und Führungsrolle nicht gerecht”, heißt es weiter.
“Rückschritt statt Fortschritt” – so fasst Sushovan Dhar von der indischen Partnerorganisation “Vikas Adhhyayan Kendra” (VAK) die ungenügenden Gipfelergebnisse zusammen. Auch die prominente indische Bürgerrechtlerin Vandana Shiva, ebenfalls “Brot für die Welt”-Partnerin, kritisiert, dass die G 8 ihre Verantwortung gegenüber den Armen nicht wahrnehmen, die zutiefst ungerechten Weltwirtschaftsstrukturen zu ändern, um den Hunger zu besiegen.
“Es ist fast schon zynisch: Der millionenfachen Verletzung des Menschenrechts auf Nahrung wird nicht begegnet, wenn die Abschlusserklärung zwar mit großer Sorge anerkennt, dass die Hungerkrise strukturelle Ursachen habe, dann aber keine konkreten Lösungsschritte beschlossen werden, diese zu überwinden”, erläutert Carolin Callenius, Ernährungsexpertin von “Brot für die Welt”. Der Gipfel habe im Kampf gegen den Hunger nichts gebracht, fügt sie hinzu.
