VOLOS – In den vergangenen zehn Jahren haben die orthodoxen Frauen wichtige Meilensteine im Blick auf ihre Mitarbeit in der Kirche setzen können, doch sind viele ihrer Anliegen immer noch nicht aufgegriffen worden. Diese Bilanz zogen die Teilnehmerinnen einer internationalen Zusammenkunft orthodoxer Frauen. Vom 8.-12. Juni diskutierten sie in Volos, Griechenland, über Mitwirkung, Dienst und Anliegen orthodoxer Frauen in der Kirche und in der ökumenischen Bewegung.
Seit der letzten inter-orthodoxen Frauenkonsultation 1997 in Istanbul, Türkei, sind über zehn Jahre vergangen, in denen sich die Beteiligung der Frauen am Leben der Kirche verbessert hat. Bedeutende Meilensteine sind u.a. die Anerkennung von Frauenfragen durch die kirchlichen Strukturen und die Mitwirkung von Frauen in einer Reihe von kirchlichen Diensten und Entscheidungsprozessen.
Viele der Frauenanliegen sind jedoch im Leben der Kirche noch nicht wirklich aufgegriffen worden, darunter: Zugang zum und Finanzierung des theologischen Studiums und anschließende Anstellungschancen in der Kirche; Unterstützung und Zurüstung von Frauen für die Seelsorge und andere kirchliche Dienste; Mitwirkung in kirchlichen Entscheidungsprozessen; Neulektüre von Gebeten und Praktiken im Zusammenhang mit der weiblichen Biologie.
Zu diesen Schlussfolgerungen gelangten die Teilnehmerinnen einer fünftägigen Konsultation, zu der 45 Frauen aus östlich- und orientalisch-orthodoxen Kirchen in Europa, dem Nahen Osten, Asien, Australien und Nordamerika zusammengekommen waren.
Die Teilnehmerinnen der Konsultation empfahlen, angesichts der zahlreichen Veränderungen in den vergangenen zehn Jahren eine umfassende Untersuchung der gegenwärtigen Situation und aktuellen Bedürfnisse orthodoxer Frauen vorzunehmen und einen Handlungsrahmen für die Zukunft auszuarbeiten. “Wir sehen die Notwendigkeit, zusammen mit unserer Kirchenleitung Wege und Instrumente zu identifizieren, um Beschlüsse und Empfehlungen von Frauenkonsultationen in unseren Kirchen umzusetzen“, erklärten die Teilnehmerinnen in dem Bericht über ihre Beratungen.
Die Konsultation fand in der Akademie für theologische Studien in Volos statt und wurde vom Programm des Ökumenischen Rates der Kirchen für Frauen in Kirche und Gesellschaft organisiert. Gastgeberin war die Diözese Demetrias.
