KASSEL – Die Vereinigung Evangelischer Freikirchen (VEF) hat eine neue Leitungsspitze. Auf der Mitgliederversammlung am 16. April in Kassel wurde die Bischöfin der Evangelisch-methodistischen Kirche, Rosemarie Wenner (Frankfurt), zur neuen Präsidentin gewählt, Stellvertreter wurde der Baptistenpastor Friedrich Schneider (Oldenburg), der zur Bundesgeschäftsführung des Bundes Evangelisch-Freikirchlicher Gemeinden (Baptisten- und Brüdergemeinden) gehört. Dem insgesamt fünfköpfigen Vorstand gehören ferner der neue Präses des Bundes Freier evangelischer Gemeinden, Ansgar Hörsting (Witten), der Bundessekretär des Bundes Freikirchlicher Pfingstgemeinden, Hartmut Knorr (Erzhausen), und der Leiter der Heilsarmee in Deutschland, Kommandeur Horst Charlet (Köln), an.
Das neue Leitungsgremium übernimmt die Amtsgeschäfte zum 1. Juli. Nur Bischöfin Wenner gehörte auch dem bisherigen Vorstand an. Der bisherige Präsident, der Baptistenpastor Siegfried Großmann (Seesen), und die Vorstandsmitglieder Ingolf Ellßel (Tostedt), Präses des Bundes Freikirchlicher Pfingstgemeinden, der frühere Vorsitzende der Arbeitsgemeinschaft Mennonitischer Gemeinden, Werner Funck (Enkenbach), und der frühere Präses des Bundes Freier evangelischen Gemeinden, Peter Strauch (Witten), traten nicht mehr an, weil sie – bis auf Ellßel – innerhalb ihrer jeweiligen Freikirche keine Leitungsämter mehr bekleiden. Auch Ellßel will im Laufe dieses Jahres sein Amt als Präses aufgeben.
Wenner dankte vor allem Großmann, der das Amt seit Ende 2003 inne hatte. Er haben den Umgestaltungsprozess der VEF von einem eher informellen Kontaktgremium in einen inzwischen eingetragen Verein maßgeblich begleitet. Es sei vor allem ihm zu verdanken, dass die Freikirchen heute in der Ökumene und Gesellschaft mit ihrem eigenen Profil wahrnehmbarer geworden seien. Für die VEF sei der 70-Jährige„ein großes Geschenk“ gewesen.
Beauftragter am Sitz der Bundesregierung
Die Delegierten beschlossen ferner, die Tätigkeit ihres Beauftragten am Sitz des Bundesregierung, des Baptistenpastors Peter Jörgensen, (Berlin), deutlich auszuweiten. Jörgensen nimmt dieses Amt zusätzlich zu seiner Tätigkeit als Gemeindepastor der Baptistenkirche in Berlin-Wedding wahr. Bereits für dieses Jahr wurde seine Beauftragung aufgestockt, verbunden mit der Option, diese Ausweitung – wenn möglich – auch darüber hinaus in den kommenden Jahren fortzuführen. Wie der VEF-Vorstand mitteilte, sei Jörgensen schon heute weit über das vereinbarte Arbeitspensum hinaus für die Freikirchen aktiv. Jörgensen wies darauf hin, dass er die freikirchlichen Anliegen „nicht laut, sondern leise und entsprechend den diplomatischen Gepflogenheiten in den gesellschaftlichen Diskurs einbringen“ wolle. „Profil zu entwickeln, muss nicht zwingend damit einhergehen, lautstark und wortgewaltig aufzutreten.“
