HANNOVER – Diakonie sei die “Signatur jeder christlichen Gemeinde, das Wasserzeichen der Getauften”, so der Vorsitzende des Rates der Evangelischen Kirche in Deutschland (EKD), Bischof Wolfgang Huber, in seinem Grußwort beim Jahresempfang des Diakonischen Werkes der EKD am 1. Februar. In der Diakonie lasse sich der gelebte christliche Glaube erkennen.
“Nach Jahren, in denen viele darauf setzten, dass allein schon Rechtsansprüche gegen den Staat Gerechtigkeit schaffen, nach Jahrzehnten, in denen wir in der professionellen und refinanzierten Wohlfahrtsdiakonie eine Hauptakteurin für alle Problemlösungen sahen, spüren wir heute deutlich: So wichtig das alles ist – wir brauchen doch zugleich noch etwas anderes als gute Gesetze und professionelle Dienstleistungen. Wir brauchen den Zusammenklang von Glauben und Liebe.” Bei der Veranstaltung in der St. Elisabethkirche in Berlin, die zugleich den Auftakt zum Wichernjahr 2008 bildete, rief Huber dazu auf, “in Wicherns Geist ein Neues zu wagen” und das Verhältnis von Kirche und Diakonie neu zu bestimmen.
