ROM – (APD) An der Päpstlichen Universität der Salesianer in Rom wurde am 29. Januar eine Sonderausstellung aller bisher erschienenen ökumenischen Übersetzungen der Heiligen Schrift eröffnet. Die Bibel-Expo ist als Beitrag zur kommenden 12. Ordentliche Bischofssynode gedacht, die sich vom 5. bis 26. Oktober 2008 dem Thema “Das Wort Gottes im Leben und in der Sendung der Kirche” widmen wird.
Die Sonderausstellung mit dem Titel “Das Wort Gottes miteinander übersetzt – Die Bibel in gemeinsamen christlichen Initiativen vom Zweiten Vatikanum bis heute” wurde von der Päpstlichen Universität der Salesianer zusammen mit dem Weltbund der Bibelgesellschaften (United Bible Societies) gestaltet. Sie wurde heute in der Don Bosco-Bibliothek der römischen Salesianer-Universität eröffnet und dauert bis zum 29. April.
Auf zwei Bibliotheksräume verteilt werden Exponate mit den biblischen Schriften und eine Multimedia-Schau präsentiert, aufgeteilt in die vier Weltregionen der Weltbibelgesellschaft: Europa und Mittlerer Osten, Amerika, Asien und pazifischer Raum sowie Afrika. Seit 1968 bis heute wurden 211 Bibelübersetzungen gemeinsam von römisch-katholischen, orthodoxen und protestantischen Gelehrten und Bibelwissenschaftern abgeschlossen. In der Ausstellung werden 100 Übersetzungen in verschiedenen Sprachen vorgestellt.
Die vollständige Bibel wurde bisher in 429 Sprachen übersetzt. Neue Testamente gibt es in 1.145 Sprachen. Einzelne Schriften der Bibel können heute in 2.426 Sprachen gelesen werden. Diese Zahlen beruhen auf dem Ende 2006 veröffentlichten “Scripture Language Report” des Weltbundes der Bibelgesellschaften. Im Jahre 2007 sind weitere 23 Sprachen hinzugekommen.
Zurzeit sind Übersetzerinnen und Übersetzer im Auftrag des Weltbundes oder nationaler Bibelgesellschaften in mehr als 600 Übersetzungsprojekten in 495 Sprachen tätig. Die Anzahl der gesprochenen Sprachen weltweit schätzen Experten auf 6.500. Die Bibel bleibt damit das am häufigsten übersetzte Buch der Welt.
