(APD) – Am 27. Januar 2008 feiern evangelische, katholische und orthodoxe Kirchengemeinden bundesweit den Ökumenischen Bibelsonntag. Im Mittelpunkt steht der Brief des Propheten Jeremia an die Israeliten in der babylonischen Gefangenschaft (Jeremia 29,1-14). Bei der Vorbereitung arbeiten die Deutsche Bibelgesellschaft, das Katholische Bibelwerk und die Ökumenische Centrale der Arbeitsgemeinschaft Christlicher Kirchen (ACK) zusammen.
Die Aufforderung “Suchet der Stadt Bestes” ist der bekannteste Satz aus Jeremia, Kapitel 29. Für die Israeliten im Exil heisst es, sich in der Fremde einzurichten. “Es geht um Lebenssicherung und Lebensfreude in schwieriger Lage und darum, bei allem Realitätssinn Hoffnung und Sehnsucht nicht zu verlieren,” schreiben Dr. Jan-A. Bühner, Generalsekretär der Deutschen Bibelgesellschaft, und Dr. Franz-Josef Ortkemper, Direktor des Katholischen Bibelwerks, im Arbeitsheft zum Bibelsonntag. Heute zeige der Brief, wie realistisch und pragmatisch die Bibel sei und wie sie zugleich die Sehnsucht nach einer besseren Welt und die Hoffnung auf Gottes Eingreifen wach halte.

BAD BLANKENBURG – Mit Gottesdiensten und Auftaktveranstaltungen begann an Dreikönig die 162. Allianz-Gebetswoche in Deutschland. Während dieser zentralen Veranstaltungsreihe treffen sich weltweit Christen aus unterschiedlichen Kirchen, Gruppen und Gemeinschaften, um eine Woche lang jeden Abend miteinander zu beten. An jedem Veranstaltungstag werden grundlegende biblische Texte ausgelegt unter dem Motto „Weil er (Jesus) lebt“. In Deutschland sind die 1.100 örtlichen Allianz-Gruppen Träger dieser Aktion.
An dem Tag, an dem sich Politiker aller großen Volksparteien mit ihren Parteimitgliedern zu Klausurtagungen trafen, um den Kurs für das eben begonnene Jahr 2008 abzustimmen, treffen sich Christen in der Allianz-Gebetswoche, um sich auf Gott, den Schöpfer des Himmels und der Erde auszurichten. „Die Deutsche Evangelische Allianz ist die echte Alternative zur Katerstimmung nach Silvester und zum Katzenjammer dieser Welt“, so der Generalssekretär der Deutschen Evangelischen Allianz, Hartmut Steeb (Stuttgart).

GENF – Das Ökumenische Zentrum in Genf hieß über den Jahreswechsel junge Menschen von nah und fern willkommen und öffnete seine Türen für eine Reihe von Veranstaltungen im Rahmen des Programms des 30. Europäischen Jugendtreffens, das von der Taizé-Gemeinschaft und den Genfer Kirchen organisiert wurde.
Vom 28. Dezember 2007 bis zum 1. Januar 2008 waren rund 40 000 junge Menschen aus ganz Europa und von anderen Kontinenten bei Kirchengemeinden und Familien in Genf und Umgebung (Schweiz und Frankreich) zu Gast.
Auf dieser Etappe des “Pilgerwegs des Vertrauens auf der Erde” führten die jungen Erwachsenen Gespräche miteinander, sie meditierten, sangen und beteten und konnten an einem intensiven Programm teilnehmen, für die das Ökumenische Zentrum und die dort angesiedelten ökumenischen Organisationen Gastgeber waren.
