SIBIU – (APD) Am Dienstag 4.9 begann im rumänischen Sibiu die Dritte Ökumenische Versammlung (EÖV3). Bis zum 9. September beraten mehr als 2500 Delegierte von 125 christlichen Kirchen. Das Motto der Versammlung lautet: “Das Licht Christi scheint auf alle. Hoffnung für Erneuerung und Einheit in Europa”.
Eröffnet wurde die EÖV3 vom Ökumenischen Patriarchen von Konstantinopel, Bartholomaios I. Mehr als 2.000 Delegierte nehmen an der EÖV3 teil, die wie die bisherigen Versammlungen von Basel (1989) und Graz (1997) gemeinsam von der “Konferenz (nichtkatholischer) Europäischer Kirchen” (CEC) und dem “Rat (katholischer) Europäischer Bischofskonferenzen” (CCEE) einberufen wurde. Die Hälfte der Delegierten wurden von den 34 Bischofskonferenzen ernannt, die zur CCEE gehören. Die andere Hälfte repräsentieren die rund 120 Mitgliedskirchen der CEC, die zur anglikanischen, orthodoxen und protestantischen Kirchenfamilie gehören.
