GENF (LWI) – Mit Bestürzung und Enttäuschung hat der Lutherische Weltbund (LWB) auf die von der römisch-katholischen Kongregation für die Glaubenslehre veröffentlichten „Antworten auf Fragen zu einigen Aspekten bezüglich der Lehre über die Kirche“ reagiert. In dem Dokument hatte die vatikanische Glaubenskongregation in dieser Woche für römisch-katholische TheologInnen festgelegt, dass der Titel „Kirche“ nicht auf christliche Gemeinschaften Anwendung finden soll, wie beispielsweise für den LWB und seine Mitgliedskirchen.
In seiner Erklärung betonte LWB-Generalsekretär Pfr. Dr. Ishmael Noko, dass lutherische Kirchen das Kirchenverständnis und die Darstellung der gelebten Glaubenswirklichkeit, wie sie in den „Antworten“ beschrieben seien, nicht akzeptieren könnten. „Wir verstehen uns als Kirche im vollen Sinn, in der das Evangelium auf rechte Weise gepredigt und die Sakramente auf rechte Weise verwaltet werden“, so Noko.
Mit Blick auf die im September 2000 veröffentlichte Erklärung der Glaubenskongregation „Dominus Iesus“ – Über die Einzigkeit und die Heilsuniversalität Jesu Christi und der Kirche erklärte Noko, dass die jetzt erneut zum Ausdruck gebrachte Haltung nicht neu sei. „So sind wir doch traurig und enttäuscht, dass sie in unserem gegenwärtigen Kontext bekräftigt wird, in dem die ökumenische Partnerschaft schon solch bedeutsame Ergebnisse erzielt hat“, unterstrich der LWB-Generalsekretär.
Noko hob in seiner Erklärung hervor, dass mit der Annahme der Gemeinsamen Erklärung zur Rechtfertigungslehre (GE) am 31. Oktober 1999 durch den LWB und die römisch-katholische Kirche ein „gemeinsames Verständnis“ der Rechtfertigungslehre zum Ausdruck gekommen sei, das einen „entscheidenden Schritt zur Überwindung der Kirchenspaltung“ darstellte. Durch die Bestätigung der GE durch den Weltrat Methodistischer Kirchen im Juli 2006 habe sich zudem gezeigt, dass die GE mehr ist als eine Erklärung zu einer Frage des 16. Jahrhunderts.
Der LWB halte an seiner Verpflichtung zum ökumenischen Dialog fest, „auch zum weiteren Gespräch mit unseren Partnern in der römisch-katholischen Kirche“, bestätigte LWB-Generalsekretär Noko. „Wir verstehen christliche Einheit einerseits als Geschenk Gottes an den einen Leib Christi, andererseits aber auch als Aufgabe für das Volk Gottes. Wir werden uns weiterhin für unsere Vision der christlichen Einheit einsetzen, die Christus selbst gewollt und für die er gebetet hat.“
