HANNOVER – Die Konferenz Europäischer Kirchen (KEK) hat sich für die Aufnahme verbindlicher Grundrechte in den Vertrag der Europäischen Union ausgesprochen. Zum Abschluss ihrer jährlichen Gesamttagung vom 15. bis 19. Juni in Armenien forderte die Kommission Kirche und Gesellschaft der KEK die Staats- und Regierungschefs der EU auf, die in der EU-Verfassung formulierten sozialen Aussagen zu erhalten. Der Einsatz gegen Arbeitslosigkeit, die Garantie angemessenen sozialen Schutzes, der Kampf gegen soziale Ausgrenzung und für ein hohes Bildungsniveau seien maßgebliche Elemente des sozialen Zusammenhaltes, die im künftigen EU-Vertrag enthalten sein müssten. “Wir brauchen eine bessere Balance zwischen wirtschaftlichen, sozialen und ökologischen Elementen”, betonte Antje Heider-Rottwilm, Co-Moderatorin der Kommission und Leiterin der Europa-Abteilung im Kirchenamt der Evangelischen Kirche in Deutschland (EKD).

SOCHAUX / GENF (LWI) – Die Evangelisch-Lutherische Kirche Frankreichs (EELF) und die Reformierte Kirche von Frankreich (ERF) wollen Gespräche aufnehmen, die bis zum Jahr 2013 zur Bildung einer Vereinigten Protestantischen Kirche Frankreichs führen sollen. Der Einigungsprozess wurde bei den ersten gemeinsamen Synodalsitzungen von EELF und ERF beschlossen, die im Rahmen der Tagungen der landesweiten Synoden beider Kirchen vom 17. bis 20. Mai im ostfranzösischen Sochaux nahe Montbéliard stattfanden.
Der Brückenschlag zwischen beiden Kirchen wurde 2002 durch den Aufruf verschiedener Gemeinden und Regionalsynoden an die jeweiligen nationalen Komitees initiiert, eine „stärkere und sichtbarere Einheit“ zwischen beiden Kirchen herbeizuführen.

KÖLN – Mit einem Marathonlauf verglich Präses Schneider auf der heutigen Pressekonferenz des 31. Deutschen Evangelischen Kirchentages die Bemühungen um ökumenische Gemeinschaft mit der römisch-katholischen Kirche. „Umso dankbarer bin ich, dass der Kirchentag, gerade hier in Köln, so etwas wie eine Verpflegungsstation an der Laufstrecke war“, resümierte er. Hunderte Menschen, die am Donnerstag am Lima-Gottesdienst teilnehmen wollten, mussten weiterziehen, weil es keinen Platz mehr in der Kirche gab.
Auch der Kölner Dom, in dem gestern Abend ein ökumenischer Gottesdienst mit Kardinal Meisner, dem Metropoliten der griechisch-orthodoxen Kirche Augoustinos und Präses Schneider und gefeiert wurde, war überfüllt. „Mit ihrem Andrang haben die Menschen deutlich gemacht, wie groß die tiefe Sehnsucht nach ökumenischer Gemeinschaft ist“, so Schneider. Die Sehnsucht der Menschen nach mehr Miteinander, die am Ende des ökumenischen Gottesdienstes im spontanen Applaus zum Ausdruck gekommen sei, war erfüllend, so Schneider: Und dann ist es natürlich wie bei jeder Erfüllung: Sie macht Lust auf mehr.“

KÖLN – Der Generalsekretär des Ökumenischen Rats der Kirchen (ÖRK) Pfr. Dr Samuel Kobia wird auf dem 31. Deutschen Evangelischen Kirchentag in Köln der Frage nachgehen: “Wie können Religionen zusammenleben?”. Kobias Rede ist einer der Hauptbeiträge des Treffens. Er wird sie am Donnerstag, 7. Juni, um elf Uhr in der Rheinparkhalle 3.2 (Rheinparkweg [72 / K10]) halten. Im Anschluss folgt eine Frage-und-Antwort-Runde mit dem Generalsekretär.
Der Kirchentag findet seit 1949 alle zwei Jahre statt und ist die größte evangelische Zusammenkunft in Deutschland. Dieses Jahr ereignet er sich in Köln vom 6. bis zum 10. Juni. Etwa 100.000 Menschen erwarten die Organisatoren als Teilnehmende an Diskussionen, Vorträgen, Konzerten, Gesang und Tanz bei der Veranstaltung, die sie als “Fest des Glaubens und der Besinnung” bezeichnen.

MÜNCHEN – Mit sieben Thesen „Wider die Resignation in der Ökumene“ appelliert die KirchenVolksBewegung “Wir sind Kirche” drei Tage vor Beginn des 31. Deutschen Evangelischen Kirchentags in Köln an die Kirchenleitungen, das bisher in der Ökumene Erreichte nicht aufs Spiel zu setzen und sich weiterhin um sichtbare und wirkkräftige Zeichen der Einheit aller christlichen Kirchen zu bemühen.
Nicht die Abgrenzung und Profilierung der einzelnen Kirchen untereinander, sondern die Profilierung des Christentums als Ganzes ist im Hinblick auf die Herausforderungen der heutigen Zeit gefragt. Nicht im Alleinvertretungsanspruch sondern nur gemeinsam können die Kirchen heute den Menschen die Hoffnungsbotschaft Jesu Christi glaubhaft und glaubwürdig verkünden.
