SOCHAUX / GENF (LWI) – Die Evangelisch-Lutherische Kirche Frankreichs (EELF) und die Reformierte Kirche von Frankreich (ERF) wollen Gespräche aufnehmen, die bis zum Jahr 2013 zur Bildung einer Vereinigten Protestantischen Kirche Frankreichs führen sollen. Der Einigungsprozess wurde bei den ersten gemeinsamen Synodalsitzungen von EELF und ERF beschlossen, die im Rahmen der Tagungen der landesweiten Synoden beider Kirchen vom 17. bis 20. Mai im ostfranzösischen Sochaux nahe Montbéliard stattfanden.
Der Brückenschlag zwischen beiden Kirchen wurde 2002 durch den Aufruf verschiedener Gemeinden und Regionalsynoden an die jeweiligen nationalen Komitees initiiert, eine „stärkere und sichtbarere Einheit“ zwischen beiden Kirchen herbeizuführen.
Bei den jüngsten gemeinsamen Sitzungen beider Synoden legten die Komitees ihre Vorschläge für den Vereinigungsprozess vor, der bis zum Jahr 2013 eine gemeinsame Kirche mit „verschiedenen konfessionellen Regionen“ schaffen soll, die die lutherische sowie die reformierte Identität in ihren angestammten Gebieten erhalten werden.
Die EELF ist seit 1947 Mitgliedskirche des Lutherischen Weltbundes (LWB) und hat 40.000 Mitglieder vor allem in den Regionen Montbéliard und Paris, die ERF hat landesweit rund 300.000 Mitglieder.
Im Blick auf den Vereinigungsvorschlag erklärte EELF-Präsident Pfr. Joël Dautheville: „Wir haben die Botschaft der Reformation weiterzugeben. Unsere Einheit wird uns dabei helfen, diese Botschaft, die auch heute noch Gültigkeit hat, weiterzusagen – die Frohe Botschaft für alle Frauen und Männer.“
Pfr. Marcel Manoël, Präsident des Nationalrates der ERF, verwies auf die wachsende Komplexität der religiösen Landschaft Frankreichs. „Wir müssen in diesem Land unsere Identität deutlich sichtbar machen“, betonte er.
Bereits heute studieren angehende PfarrerInnen von EELF und ERF miteinander am Protestantischen Institut für Theologie (Paris und Montpellier), dessen Trägerschaft beide Kirchen gemeinsam wahrnehmen.
Dem Einigungsprozess von EELF und ERF ging eine vergleichbare Entwicklung in der Kirche Augsburgischen Bekenntnisses von Elsass und Lothringen (ECAAL) und der Reformierten Kirche in Elsass und Lothringen (ERAL) voraus, die 2004 die Union Protestantischer Kirchen in Elsass und Lothringen (UEPAL) gründeten. Um ihrer gemeinsamen Identität deutlicher Ausdruck zu verleihen, benannten sich beide Kirchen in der Folge um in Protestantische Kirche Augsburgischen Bekenntnisses von Elsass und Lothringen (EPCAAL) beziehungsweise Protestantisch-Reformierte Kirche in Elsass und Lothringen (EPRAL)
