BERLIN – Gemeinsam mit dem “Bündnis für Demokratie und Toleranz” laden die Evangelische Kirche in Deutschland (EKD) und die katholische Kirche auch in diesem Jahr am Verfassungstag zu einem ökumenischen Gottesdienst ein. Der Gottesdienst findet am kommenden Mittwoch, 23. Mai, in der Berliner Kaiser-Wilhelm-Gedächtnis-Kirche statt. Er beginnt um 10 Uhr. Eingeladen sind insbesondere zivilgesellschaftlich engagierte junge Menschen und Vertreter von Einrichtungen, die sich gegen Extremismus und Gewalt in der Gesellschaft einsetzen.
Der Gottesdienst wird von der Dienststelle des Bevollmächtigten des Rates der EKD bei der Bundesrepublik Deutschland und der Europäischen Union und vom Kommissariat der Deutschen Bischöfe in Berlin veranstaltet. Für die Koptisch-Orthodoxe Kirche wird Bischof Damian teilnehmen. Für die musikalische Begleitung sorgt der Berliner Gospelchor “Spirited” unter der Leitung von Christoph Zschunke.
Im Rahmen einer mehrtägigen Tagung, zu der Jugendliche, die sich gegen fremdenfeindlich, rassistisch und antisemitisch motivierte Gewalt engagieren, aus der gesamten Bundesrepublik nach Berlin eingeladen sind, bildet der Gottesdienst den Auftakt für die Veranstaltungen des Verfassungstages. Der “Tag des Grundgesetzes” soll daran erinnern, dass es des persönlichen Engagements bedarf, um die grundgesetzlich festgeschriebenen Werte der Menschenwürde und Toleranz täglich zu verwirklichen.
Das “Bündnis für Demokratie und Toleranz – gegen Extremismus und Gewalt” wurde im Jahr 2000 vom Bundesinnenministerium eingerichtet. Seitdem haben sich mehr als 1.300 Gruppen und Einzelpersonen zur Mitarbeit bereit erklärt. Diese Kräfte will das Bündnis bündeln und dadurch die Grundwerte der Verfassung in der Öffentlichkeit stärken. Die zentrale Präsentation dieses zivilgesellschaftlichen Engagements findet alljährlich am Tag des Grundgesetzes statt.
