ROTTENBURG/STUTTGART – Zum zweiten Mal haben sich der Bischof der Diözese Rottenburg-Stuttgart, Gebhard Fürst, und Repräsentanten des Islam in Baden-Württemberg am Dienstagabend zum Gespräch getroffen. Bei der Begrüßung der Vertreter von sechs muslimischen Organisationen und der alewitischen Religionsgemeinschaft betonte Bischof Fürst seinen Wunsch einer Kontinuität dieser Begegnung, da Dialog und Austausch zwischen Christen und Muslimen für die Zukunft der Gesellschaft und des friedlichen Miteinander entscheidend seien.
Neben dem fachlichen Austausch seien dabei persönliches Kennenlernen und Vertrauen wichtige Elemente. Äußerungen der Wertschätzung des Zweiten Vatikanischen Konzils gegenüber dem Islam, auf die sich Bischof Fürst berief, seien „dem Brief eines Freundes vergleichbar, abgesandt in der Hoffnung, dass er auch von der anderen Seite eine Antwort bekommt“. Er betonte dabei den Wunsch, dass freie Religionsausübung auch in bestimmten muslimisch geprägten Gesellschaften und Staaten gelten müsse. Seinen muslimischen Gesprächspartnern stellte er die Frage, wie durchsetzungsfähig die demokratischen Kräfte des Islam gegenüber gewaltbereiten Personengruppen seien.
Im Koran, darauf wies Bekir Alboga von der Türkisch-Islamischen Union für religiöse Angelegenheiten, Köln, hin, gebe es ausdrückliche Formulierungen der Hochschätzung gegenüber dem Christentum. Im Namen der muslimischen Gesprächspartner betonte Rhiad Ghalaini, Vertreter der Islamischen Glaubensgemeinschaft in Baden-Württemberg, das Bekenntnis des Islam zur Informations-, Meinungs- und Pressefreiheit. Der ethische Kodex der Presse widerspreche jedoch der Schmähung von Religionen sowie Diskriminierungen jeder Art. Dies müsse auch gegenüber dem Islam gelten. Mit Bezug auf eine Untersuchung an der Universität Erfurt von Januar 2007 über das Gewalt- und Konfliktbild des Islam in Magazinen und Talksendungen öffentlich rechtlicher Sendeanstalten hatten die muslimischen Gesprächspartner die Darstellung des Islam in den Medien als zentrales Gesprächsthema gewünscht. Der Islam, so beklagte Ghalaini, werde in den Medien überwiegend mit Extremismus und Gewalt in Verbindung gebracht. Dadurch entstehe ein ungerechtfertigtes Zerrbild, durch das der Islam weniger als Religion denn als politisches System erscheine, das den Grundwerten westlicher Gesellschaften entgegenstehe. Von der Kirche, das betonten mehrere Teilnehmer der Gesprächsrunde, erwarteten Muslime, dass sie derartige Bilder nicht durch eigene Äußerungen verstärke. Es gebe zu aktuellen Anlässen immer wieder ausdrückliche Erklärungen muslimischer Organisationen, in denen sie jede Gewalt verurteilen und ihr Bekenntnis zu demokratischen Werten zum Ausdruck bringen. Leider werde dies von den Medien oft nicht berücksichtigt und von der Öffentlichkeit kaum wahrgenommen. Medienethische Standards müssten auch gegenüber dem Islam gelten. Gemeinsam äußerten die Gesprächsteilnehmer den Wunsch einer differenzierten Berichterstattung über den Islam.
Übereinstimmend betonten die christlichen und die muslimischen Teilnehmer der in offener Atmosphäre verlaufenen Runde den Abscheu gegenüber jedem Terror und die große Verantwortung der Repräsentanten der verschiedenen Religionen, der politischen Instrumentalisierung der Religion und dem damit zusammenhängenden Extremismus entgegen zu wirken. Beide Seiten äußerten den Wunsch, die Gespräche fortzusetzen.
