BERLIN – Am 9. Mai stellt sich in Berlin die neu gegründete “Stiftung Sozialer Protestantismus” der Öffentlichkeit vor. Die Stiftung, die aus der Evangelischen Sozialakademie Friedewald hervorgegangen ist, hat sich zur Aufgabe gemacht, die Umbrüche in der Wirtschafts- und Sozialpolitik mit evangelischer Sozialethik zu begleiten und mitzugestalten. Sie will Perspektiven einer menschlichen Gestaltung der Globalisierung in der Tradition der Sozialen Marktwirtschaft entwickeln und den Protestantismus in seiner sozialen Prägekraft in der Gesellschaft profilieren. Dabei wird sie durch Persönlichkeiten aus Kirche, Politik und Arbeitswelt unterstützt.
Im Rahmen der Auftaktveranstaltung diskutieren der Vorsitzende des Rates der Evangelischen Kirche in Deutschland (EKD), Bischof Wolfgang Huber, und Bundesfinanzminister Peer Steinbrück über Perspektiven des “Sozialen Protestantismus in einer globalisierten Welt”.
Bereits am Nachmittag des 9. Mai 2007 veranstaltet die Stiftung dem Thema: “Die Zukunftsfähigkeit der Sozialen Marktwirtschaft” einen Workshop für Studierende aller Fachrichtungen mit Professorin Doris Neuberger, Volkswirtin in Rostock, dem Chefvolkswirt des DGB, Dierk Hirschel, dem Direktor Wirtschaftspolitik und Kommunikation der Otto-Group Thomas Voigt und dem Bochumer Sozialethiker Professor Traugott Jähnichen.
“Es ist für den Sozialen Protestantismus kennzeichnend, dass er immer beides, die Freiheit des Einzelnen zu verantwortlichem Tun, aber auch seine Verpflichtung hierzu, und die Aspekte der sozialen Gerechtigkeit integrierend betrachtet. Von Anfang an ging es immer darum, gemeinsame Wertorientierung zwischen den Leistungseliten dieser Gesellschaft und den sozial Schwächeren, ja den Armen, zu fördern. Der Soziale Protestantismus wirkt in dieser Hinsicht sozial integrierend in der Gesellschaft,” erklärt Präses Nikolaus Schneider, Kuratoriumsvorsitzender der Stiftung Sozialer Protestantismus, Mitglied des Rates der EKD.
Schwerpunkte der Arbeit der Stiftung liegen in der Durchführung und Unterstützung von Bildungsveranstaltungen, Forschungsprojekten, theologischen wirtschafts- und sozialethischen Studien und wissenschaftlichen Publikationen. Aber auch soziale Projekte und Angebote der ethischen Qualifizierung von Verantwortungsträgern in der Wirtschaft sind vorgesehen. In all diesen Aktivitäten sieht sich die Stiftung in der Tradition des Evangelisch-Sozialen Kongresses, der Evangelischen Akademien und auch des Deutschen Evangelischen Kirchentages.
Am Buß- und Bettag 2008 wird die Stiftung erstmalig den mit 10.000 Euro dotierten “Arthur-Rich-Preis” für Verdienste um den Sozialen Protestantismus vergeben. Die Stiftung fördert zudem das “Jahrbuch Sozialer Protestantismus”, dessen erster Band mit dem Titel “Kontinuität und Umbruch im deutschen Wirtschafts- und Sozialmodell” ebenfalls am 9. Mai vorgestellt wird. Herausgeber sind die Sozialethiker Heinrich Bedform-Strohm, Traugott Jähnichen, Hans-Richard Reuter, Sigrid Reihs und Gerhard Wegner im Auftrag der Stiftung Sozialer Protestantismus, des Kirchlichen Dienstes in der Arbeitswelt und des Sozialwissenschaftlichen Instituts der EKD.
