HILDESHEIM/HANNOVER – (bph) Die katholischen Bistümer in Niedersachsen verpflichten sich zur ökumenischen Zusammenarbeit. Dr. Josef Homeyer, der emeritierte Bischof von Hildesheim, wird im Rahmen eines feierlichen ökumenischen Gottesdienstes für die Bistümer Hildesheim, Osnabrück und den Offizialatsbezirk Vechta die „Charta Oecumenica“ unterzeichnen. Der Gottesdienst findet am Sonntag, 13. Mai, um 18 Uhr in der Marktkirche Hannover statt.
Neben Homeyer unterschreiben auch Repräsentanten der anderen Mitglieder der „Arbeitsgemeinschaft christlicher Kirchen im Lande Niedersachsen (ACKN)“ diese Charta. Dazu gehören unter anderem die evangelischen-lutherischen Landeskirchen, orthodoxe Kirchen, Freikirchen und Gemeindebünde. Thema der Feier ist: „Das Licht Christi scheint auf alle“. Die Predigt hält Dr. Margot Käßmann, Landesbischöfin der Evangelisch-Lutherischen Landeskirche Hannovers.
Die Charta Oecumenica wurde von der Konferenz Europäischer Kirchen (KEK) und vom Rat der Europäischen Bischofskonferenzen (CCEE) gemeinsam erarbeitet. Sie ist eine Selbstverpflichtung der beteiligten Kirchen und beschreibt die gemeinsamen Aufgaben der Kirchen im sich vereinigenden Europa. Außerdem enthält sie Leitlinien für die Zusammenarbeit unter den christlichen Religionsgemeinschaften in Europa. Kirchen, die diese Charta unterschreiben, verpflichten sich damit, die Gemeinschaft der christlichen Kirchen in Europa zu vertiefen, aufeinander zuzugehen, gemeinsam zu handeln und miteinander zu beten. Das Dokument hat keinen lehramtlich-dogmatischen oder kirchenrechtlichen Charakter sondern gründet auf der Selbstverpflichtung der europäischen Kirchen und ökumenischen Organisationen.
Die Charta wurde 2001 in Straßburg auf europäischer Ebene und 2003 in Berlin auf deutscher Ebene unterzeichnet und gilt als ökumenischer Meilenstein. Inzwischen haben Kirchen oder nationale Kirchenräte in verschiedenen Ländern die Charta Oecumenica unterschrieben.
Die ACKN wurde 1976 gegründet. Ihr gehören 23 Mitglieder an – weitere drei mit Gaststatus. Gemeinsam mit 15 weiteren ACKs in Deutschland sieht die ACKN ihr Ziel darin, Spannungen zwischen den Kirchen zu beheben, zur Verständigung beizutragen, die weltweite ökumenische Bewegung zu unterstützen und die Einheit der Christen zu fördern.
