WITTEN – Die Zelt-Mission des Bundes Freier evangelischer Gemeinden (Witten) feiert im Juni ihr 50-jähriges Bestehen. Nach Angaben ihres Leiters, Jan-Peter Graap (36), konnten bei den rund 1.150 Einsätzen in den letzten fünf Jahrzehnten rund 1,7 Millionen Menschen persönlich mit dem Evangelium erreicht werden. „Es ist auch mit ein Verdienst der Zelt-Mission“, so Jan-Peter Graap, „dass der Bund in den vergangenen 25 Jahren von 270 Gemeinden auf heute 420 Gemeinden mit 36.000 Mitgliedern angewachsen ist.“ Deshalb habe der Bund FeG im vergangenen Jahr auch nicht gezögert, die Anschaffung eines weiteren modernen Pavillons zu beschließen.
Jan-Peter Graap (Kassel), der für das Referat Evangelisation und Zelt-Mission in seiner Freikirche verantwortlich ist, äußerte sich darüber dankbar, dass sein Gemeindebund in die Arbeit der Zelt-Mission weiter investiere, während in anderen christlichen Werken diese Form der Evangelisation eingestellt wurde. Graap wörtlich: „Es gibt wirklich gute Gründe, diese Arbeit in Zukunft fortzusetzen. Denn Zelt-Tage bieten den Gemeinden einen besonderen Raum und eine Atmosphäre Menschen zu Jesus einzuladen. Die Hemmschwelle für Gäste ist niedrig, die Mitarbeiter erleben eine besondere Zeit der Gemeinschaft und der Entfaltung ihrer Begabungen, in der Verkündigung wird das Evangelium auf den Punkt gebracht.“
Bei ihrem Start Juni 1957 arbeitete die Zelt-Mission bis 1970 mit drei Zelten hauptsächlich in Hessen, Nordrhein-Westfalen, Hamburg und Niedersachsen. Als Missionsgebiete galten damals Ostholstein, Ostfriesland und der Harz. Nur selten wurden Einsätze südlich des Mains durchgeführt. Nach 1970 änderte sich dieses Aufgabengebiet durch eine stärkere Fokussierung auf Gemeindegründung hauptsächlich in Süddeutschland. Insgesamt an 35 Orten wirkte die Zelt-Mission in der Gemeindegründung und in der Gemeindeentwicklung junger Gemeinden mit. In den neunziger Jahren kam die Arbeit in den neuen Bundesländern dazu.
Nach Auswertung der statistischen Zahlen fanden in den 50 Jahren des Bestehens der Zelt-Mission insgesamt 1.128 Einsätze in ganz Deutschland statt. In der Zeit von 1975 bis 1995 lag das Niveau der Einsätze konstant bei rund 25 Einsätzen pro Jahr, von 1995 bis 2000 bei rund 20 Einsätzen. Nach der Jahrtausendwende verzeichneten die Zelt-Missionen in Deutschland insgesamt einen starken Rückgang der Einsatzzahlen. Während im „Missionarischen Jahr“ 1980 die Freien evangelischen Gemeinden noch 34 Einsätze durchführten, waren es im Jahr 2002 eine Niedrigmarke von 11 Einsätzen. Zurzeit bewegen sich die Einsatzzahlen auf einem Niveau von rund 15 Einsätzen pro Jahr. „Damit können wir zufrieden sein“, so Graap, „aber für die Zukunft rechnen wir mit weiterem Wachstum.“
Anlässlich des 50-jährigen Jubiläums der Zelt-Mission findet am 3. Juni 2007 in der FeG Eschenburg-Eibelshausen eine Jubiläumsfeier statt. Neben der Festpredigt von Präses Peter Strauch werden die langjährigen Zelt-Missionsleiter wie Paul Lenz, Heinz Müller und Ernst-Wilhelm Erdlenbruch in einer Gesprächsrunde über ihre Erfahrungen berichten. Musikalisch begleitet wird die Veranstaltung vom Musikevangelisten Waldemar Grab (Mudersbach).
