(ÖRK) – Als eine „nicht müde werdende, glaubwürdige und aufgeklärte Stimme für den Frieden“ bezeichnete der Generalsekretär des Ökumenischen Rates der Kirchen (ÖRK), Pfr. Dr. Samuel Kobia, den deutschen Physiker und Philosophen Prof. Dr. Carl Friedrich von Weizsäcker in einem gestern veröffentlichten Nachruf.
Von Weizsäckers Tod im Alter von 94 Jahren war am 28. April bekannt gegeben worden.
Von Weizsäckers öffentliche Stellungnahme gegen Atomwaffen nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg, sein Engagement für die Bewahrung der Schöpfung in den 1970er Jahren und sein Aufruf von 1985 an die Kirchen der Welt, ein Konzil des Friedens zu berufen, waren ausschlaggebend für die Unterstützung des 1993 vom ÖRK eingerichteten Programms „Gerechtigkeit, Frieden und Bewahrung der Schöpfung“, schreibt Kobia in seinem Nachruf.
