ROM – Zu Gesprächen mit den evangelischen Kirchen Italiens und mit dem Vatikan wird der Vorsitzende des Rates der Evangelischen Kirche in Deutschland (EKD), Bischof Wolfgang Huber, von 2. bis 4. Mai in Rom sein. Neben dem Austausch mit den evangelischen Kirchen in Italien, dem Besuch der deutsch-sprachigen evangelischen Gemeinde in Rom und dem ökumenischen Gespräch mit der römisch-katholischen Kirche wird der Vorsitzende des Rates, Bischof Wolfgang Huber, am Donnerstag, 3. Mai, in einer Veranstaltung der deutschen Vertretung beim Heiligen Stuhl einen Vortrag über Dietrich Bonhoeffer halten.
Bei einem Mittagessen am Dienstag, 2. Mai, trifft der Ratsvorsitzende Vertreter verschiedener protestantischen Kirchen Italiens, zu denen unter anderem die Evangelische Kirche der Waldenser und die Evangelisch-Lutherische Kirche in Italien (ELKI) gehören. Bei dem anschließenden Gespräch geht es unter anderem auch um die Zusammenarbeit im evangelischen Studienzentrum “Melanchthon-Zentrum/Centro Melantone”, das von der ELKI, der Waldenserfakultät in Rom wie der EKD und der Gemeinschaft Europäischer Kirchen in Europa (GEKE) getragen wird. Am Abend findet eine Begegnung mit der Gemeinschaft Sant’Egidio statt. Diese ökumenische Gemeinschaft, die ihren Sitz in einem Kloster in dem römischen Stadtteil Trastevere hat, setzt sich für die Weitergabe des Evangeliums und im Dienst an den Armen ein.
Am Donnerstag, 3. Mai, wird der Ratsvorsitzende verschiedene Gespräche im Vatikan führen, unter anderem mit Walter Kardinal Kasper, Präsident des Päpstlichen Rates zur Förderung der Einheit der Christen. Auch eine Begegnung mit Papst Benedikt XVI. ist geplant. Um 16 Uhr hält Wolfgang Huber den Vortrag im Ateneo Sant’Anselmo (Piazza Cavalieri di Malta 5) “Dietrich Bonhoeffer – ein evangelischer Heiliger?” Veranstaltet wird dieser Vortrag vom Deutschen Botschafter beim Heiligen Stuhl.
