ROM – Ein 80. Geburtstag ist ein Grund zum Feiern und immer ein Grund zum Gratulieren. Wenn dann noch eine herausgehobene Persönlichkeit wie der deutsche Papst Benedikt XVI. sein Wiegenfest feiert, ist die Reihe der Gratulanten schier endlos. Neben Politikern und Kirchenmännern aus den eigenen Reihen erreichten Papst Benedikt auch viele Glückwünsche aus der Ökumene.
Der Generalsekretär des Ökumenischen Rates der Kirchen, Samuel Kobia, sandte ebenso seine Grüße wie der Präsident des Lutherischen Weltbundes (LWB), Bischof Mark S. Hanson. Hanson betonte in seinem Schreiben die Wichtigkeit der gemeinsamen lutherisch/römisch-katholischen Erklärung zur Rechtfertigungslehre. Kobia dankte ihm für das Verkünden der frohen Botschaft und sicherte ihm die Gebete des Weltkirchenrates zu.
In den Reigen der Glückwünsche mischten sich auch kritische Töne, die anlässlich des Papstgeburtstages darauf hinwiesen, dass gerade im Hinblick auf die Ökumene so manche Wünsche unerfüllt bleiben.

ROTTENBURG – Als einen „weltweit geschätzten, bedeutenden Lehrer der Theologie“ hat der Bischof der Diözese Rottenburg-Stuttgart, Gebhard Fürst, seinen Vorgänger Kardinal Walter Kasper in einem Festakt in der Rottenburger Festhalle vor zahlreichen geladenen Gästen aus dem kirchlichen, politischen und gesellschaftlichen Leben gewürdigt. Walter Kasper, von 1989 bis 1999 Rottenburger Bischof und jetzt in Rom Präsident des Päpstlichen Rates für die Einheit der Christen, feierte an seiner einstigen Wirkungsstätte gemeinsam mit 19 anderen Priestern des Weihejahrgangs 1957 sein 50-jähriges Priesterjubiläum.
Es sei gut, unterstrich der Bischof, Walter Kasper jetzt „in Rom in der Verantwortung für die Ökumene, für die Einheit und Gemeinsamkeit der Christen und der Kirchen, zu wissen“. Er könne die in Baden-Württemberg erlebte Mitbrüderlichkeit zwischen den katholischen und den evangelischen Bischöfen als Erfahrung in seine jetzige Tätigkeit einbringen. Es sein Wunsch, betonte Bischof Fürst, dass auch durch das Wirken von Kardinal Kasper die Ökumene „wieder aus dem Tal heraus kommt, in dem sie sich derzeit zu befinden scheint“.

Die Kämpfe zwischen der srilankischen Armee, den Rebellen der LTTE und der von ihnen abgespaltenen Karuna-Gruppe sind außer Kontrolle geraten.
Fast 160.000 Menschen suchen seit zwei Wochen in der Stadt Batticaloa Schutz. Mehr als die Hälfte von ihnen campiert auf Straßen, Plätzen oder freiem Feld. Viele hungern und haben keine medizinische Versorgung. “Die internationale Gemeinschaft muss endlich etwas gegen diese absehbare Katastrophe unternehmen und Druck auf die Regierung Sri Lankas ausüben”, forderte der Südasien-Koordinator von medico international, Thomas Seibert, im Namen des Bündnisses.

HANNOVER – “Hohe Achtung und großer Respekt” gebühre Papst Benedikt XVI. insbesondere für seine außergewöhnliche theologische Bildung, seine eindringliche Frömmigkeit und die Weisheit, mit der er die römisch-katholische Kirche leite. Das schreibt der Vorsitzende des Rates der Evangelischen Kirche in Deutschland (EKD), Bischof Wolfgang Huber, in seiner Gratulation anlässlich des 80. Geburtstages von Papst Benedikt XVI. am 16. April. Er gratuliere ihm von Herzen und wünsche ihm “Gottes Segen in seiner Fülle”, so Huber.
Der Ratsvorsitzende geht in seinem Schreiben auch auf offene Fragen des ökumenischen Gesprächs wie des Verhältnisses von Glauben und Vernunft ein und unterstreicht die gemeinsamen Aufgaben. “Das missionarische Zeugnis gehört zu den zentralen Herausforderungen für unsere Kirchen in Europa und bedarf der gemeinsamen Anstrengung in wechselseitigem Respekt und wechselseitiger Achtung.”

TRIER – Mit interreligiösen Projekten hat sich der Bundeskongress der „Gemeinschaft Katholischer Männer und Frauen im Bund Neudeutschland (KMF im ND) während des „Tages der ethischen, politischen und sozialen Perspektiven” 12. April in Trier beschäftigt. Rund 850 Delegierte des katholischen Akademikerverbandes machten sich in der Trierer Europahalle mit interreligiösen Projekten wie der „gläsernen Moschee von Mannheim”, dem „Wunder von Marxloh”, dem „Trialog an Schulen” oder „Weißt du, wer ich bin?” vertraut. Nach Angaben des Verbandes sollen so Ansprüche und Wirklichkeit eines „gelingenden Zusammenlebens in der Gesellschaft” deutlich werden.
„Dialogarbeit ist keine Arbeit, die man in vier Wänden abhaken kann”, machte Bekir al Boga, Zweiter Imam der Mannheimer Yavuz-Sultan-Selim-Moschee und Dialogbeauftragter der türkisch-islamischen Union der Anstalt für Religion e.V. (DITIB), deutlich.
