BERLIN – Bundeskanzlerin Angela Merkel wird am kommenden Sonntag, 15. April, die Heilige Messe in der katholischen Sankt-Hedwigs-Kathedrale in Berlin besuchen. KIRCHE IN NOT hat die Komposition der Messe „Tu es Petrus“ durch den renommierten Berliner Musik-Professor Wolfgang Seifen mit-initiiert. Sie ist ein Geschenk zum 80. Geburtstag von Papst Benedikt XVI. und wird am 10. Oktober auch im Petersdom in Rom aufgeführt.
Außer Bundeskanzlerin Angela Merkel, Vertretern der Bundesregierung und dem Erzbischof von Berlin, Georg Kardinal Sterzinsky, werden auch Repräsentanten des Diplomatischen Korps erwartet, an ihrer Spitze der Botschafter des Vatikans, Erzbischof Erwin Josef Ender. Joachim Kardinal Meisner, Erzbischof von Köln und Schirmherr der Komposition, wird das Pontifikalamt zelebrieren und die Predigt halten.
Der Festgottesdienst wird ab 10 Uhr live vom Kulturradio des Rundfunks Berlin-Brandenburg übertragen. Deutsche Welle TV strahlt zwischen dem 16. und 18. April eine Filmdokumentation über die Entstehung, das Einstudieren und die Vorbereitung der Messe in verschiedenen Sprachen aus. Das Bayerische Fernsehen zeigt am Montag, 16. April, und am Mittwoch, 18. April, jeweils um 19.30 Uhr einen Beitrag über Papst Benedikt XVI. und die Messe „Tu es Petrus“.
