ROTTENBURG – Der Michael-Sattler-Friedenspreis geht 2007 an das Projekt „Zelt der Völker – Menschen bauen Brücken” in Palästina. Mit dem Preis würdigt das Deutsche Mennonitische Friedenskomitee (DMFK) den kreativen und gewaltfreien Einsatz der christlich palästinensischen Familie Nassar gegen illegale Landnahme. Der Preis wird am 20.5.07 gegen Abend in Rottenburg/Neckar verliehen. Unterstützt wird die Preisverleihung von der örtlichen Evangelischen und Katholischen Kirche, sowie von der Stadt Rottenburg.
Im Nahostkonflikt spielen Land und Besitzansprüche darauf eine besondere Rolle. Wem gehört das Land? Das Recht der Nassars auf ihr Land auf einem Hügel südlich von Bethlehem ist durch Papiere aller Mächte, die Palästina seit hundert Jahren beherrschten, verbrieft. Sie haben osmanische, britische, jordanische und israelische Papiere. Dennoch erheben israelische Siedler Anspruch auf ihr Land.
Familie Nassar ist ständig auf ihrem Land präsent und betreibt dort Landwirtschaft. In den letzten Jahren hat sie zudem ein einfaches christliches Freizeit- und Begegnungszentrum eingerichtet. Parallel vertritt die Familie seit 15 Jahren ihr Besitzrecht vor israelischen Gerichten.
Die Hügel ringsum sind schon von jüdischen Siedlungen besetzt. Auf faszinierende Weise lebt Familie Nassar christliches Zeugnis in dieser schwierigen Situation. Den Anspruch auf ihr Land verbindet sie mit der aktiven Hoffnung, dass die gegenwärtigen Konflikte überwunden werden können und Frieden in Gerechtigkeit möglich wird. – Rechtsträger des Projekts ist das Bethlehem Bible College.
Daoud Nassar wird am Mennonitischen Gemeindetag in Karlsruhe 17.-20.5.07 teilnehmen und in einer Arbeitsgruppe berichten. Die Preisverleihung wird am 20.5.07 um 17 Uhr im Ev. Gemeindehaus in Rottenburg/Neckar stattfinden. Anschließend findet um 19.30 Uhr eine Andacht am Galgenbuckel beim Sattler-Gedenkstein statt.
Der Michael-Sattler-Friedenspreis erinnert an den Täufer Michael Sattler, der am 20.5.1527 in Rottenburg wegen seiner gewaltfreien Friedenshaltung und seines christlichen Zeugnisses verbrannt wurde. Neben Sattler wurden damals auch einige andere Täufer hingerichtet. Seine Frau wurde einige Tage danach im Neckar ertränkt.
