HARARE – Angesichts der sich zuspitzenden politischen und ökonomischen Krise in Simbabwe haben die Kirchen im Land in der Karwoche begonnen, wöchentliche Friedensgebete anzubieten. Am vergangenen Sonntag wurde in der deutschsprachigen evangelischen Gemeinde in Harare der deutsche Pfarrer Klaus-Peter Edinger in sein Amt eingeführt. Ruth Gütter, Afrikareferentin im Kirchenamt der Evangelischen Kirche in Deutschland (EKD), die anlässlich der Einführung in das afrikanische Land gereist war, zeigte sich nach ihrer Rückkehr beeindruckt vom Engagement der Kirchen in der schwierigen Lage. “Es ist für die Kirchen in Simbabwe von großer Bedeutung, von der ökumenischen Gemeinschaft unterstützt zu werden” sagte sie.
Unter dem Titel “Das Simbabwe, das wir wollen” hat der ökumenische Kirchenrat des Landes seine Vision von einer souveränen, demokratischen, freien und toleranten Gesellschaft dargestellt. Zum Kirchenrat gehören die evangelischen Kirchen, die anglikanische und die katholische Kirche. In dem 16-seitigen Papier werden die Probleme des Landes – wie die hohe Inflationsrate, Probleme in der Ernährungssicherung, Aids, Korruption, Demokratiedefizite und Menschenrechtsverletzungen – offen angesprochen. Der Streit um den weiteren Weg Simbabwes spalte inzwischen nicht nur das Land, sondern stelle auch eine Herausforderung für die Einheit der Kirchen dar, heißt es in dem Text. Deshalb sei jetzt der Zeitpunkt gekommen, als Christen mit einer Stimme zu sprechen.
Zielpunkt des Papieres ist nicht die Präsentation von politischen Optionen, sondern der Aufruf zum Dialog und zur Versöhnung, erläuterte Ruth Gütter. Voraussetzung von Versöhnung sei aber, dass die Wahrheit über Fehlentwicklungen offen benannt würden. “Die Wahrheit muss erzählt werden, damit Wunden geheilt werden können”, heißt es in dem Papier. Deshalb solle eine “Wahrheits- und Gerechtigkeitskommission” einberufen werden, in der die Kirchen eine Moderatorenrolle ausüben könnten. Diese Kommission solle strittige Fragen wie die der Landverteilung und der Verankerung des Wahlrechtes in der Verfassung behandeln sowie Menschenrechtsverletzungen der vergangenen Jahre aufarbeiten.
