EDINBURGH – Im Vorfeld der 100-Jahr-Feier der Weltmissionskonferenz, die 1910 in Edinburgh stattfand und als Symbol für den Beginn der modernen ökumenischen Bewegung steht, nahm der Generalsekretär des Ökumenischen Rates der Kirchen (ÖRK), Pfr. Dr. Samuel Kobia, eine fundierte Analyse der Erfolge und Misserfolge der ökumenischen Bewegung im vergangenen Jahrhundert vor und rief zu einer “ökumenisch verantwortlichen Evangelisation” auf.
In seiner Ansprache, die er am Freitag, dem 27. April, in Edinburgh, Schottland, auf einer Tagung zur Vorbereitung der 100-Jahr-Feier dieser historischen Veranstaltung hielt, bekräftigte Kobia: “Wir brauchen ein neues Edinburgh und können nur hoffen, dass die für 2010 geplante Feier ein Schritt in diese Richtung sein wird.”

BERLIN – Das Verhältnis von Kirche und Staat in Serbien und Deutschland steht im Mittelpunkt einer Tagung der Evangelischen Kirche in Deutschland (EKD), der Deutschen Bischofskonferenz und der Serbischen Orthodoxen Kirche, die am kommenden Wochenende in Berlin stattfindet. “Die aktuelle Debatte im UN-Sicherheitsrat über den Status des Kosovo zeigt, wie wichtig vertrauensvolle Beziehungen sind, in denen man die verschiedenen Positionen erörtern kann”, sagte der EKD-Auslandsbischof Martin Schindehütte vor der Tagung.
“Wir freuen uns, dass wir seit Jahren mit der Serbischen Orthodoxen Kirche konstruktive Gespräche über die Rolle der Religion, über Geschichte und aktuelle Entwicklungen führen können.” An der Tagung nehmen unter anderem der Leiter des Amtes für Menschen- und Minderheitenrechte der serbischen Regierung, Petar Ladjevic, der Generalsekretär der Konferenz Europäischer Kirchen (KEK), Colin Williams und die Europa-Abgeordnete Erika Mann teil. Bischof Porfirije von Jegar, Diözese Backa (Novi Sad) leitet die Delegation der Serbischen Orthodoxen Kirche.

Der Generalsekretär des Ökumenischen Rates der Kirchen (ÖRK), Pfr. Dr. Samuel Kobia, wird den ÖRK-Mitgliedskirchen in Großbritannien und Irland vom 24. April bis 4. Mai einen Besuch abstatten. Geplant ist ein umfangreiches Besuchsprogramm, das Kobia Gelegenheit bieten wird, eine Vielzahl neuer Einblicke in Leben und Arbeit der Mitgliedskirchen von “Churches Together in Britain and Ireland” (CTBI) zu gewinnen.
Auf seiner Reise, die Kobia von England über Wales und Schottland nach Irland und wieder zurück nach England führen wird, wird Kobia mit Kirchenleitern/innen und kirchlichen Mitarbeitern/innen zusammentreffen, die in so unterschiedlichen Bereichen wie interreligiöse Beziehungen, Arbeit mit Flüchtlingen und Asylsuchenden, Initiativen für Rassengerechtigkeit und ökumenische theologische Ausbildung arbeiten.

MAGDEBURG – Zum ersten Mal werden am 29. April die Evangelische Kirche in Deutschland (EKD), die Deutsche Bischofskonferenz, orthodoxe und altorientalische Kirchen sowie Freikirchen auf der Ebene der Bundesrepublik Deutschland eine förmliche Erklärung über die wechselseitige Anerkennung der Taufe unterzeichnen. Die Unterzeichnung der Vereinbarung findet im Rahmen eines ökumenischen Gottesdienstes am 29. April um 17 Uhr im Magdeburger Dom statt.
Dort werden leitende Vertreter der 11 beteiligten Kirchen anwesend sein, darunter der Ratsvorsitzende der EKD, Bischof Wolfgang Huber, und der Vorsitzende der Deutschen Bischofskonferenz, Karl Kardinal Lehmann. Gastgeber ist der Bischof der Evangelischen Kirche der Kirchenprovinz Sachsen, Bischof Axel Noack. Es predigt Bischof em. Walter Klaiber (Evangelisch-methodistische Kirche).

GENF – (APD) Das Präsidium der Konferenz Europäischer Kirchen (KEK) tagt vom 23. bis 25. April im protestantischen Begegnungszentrum in Cartigny bei Genf. Dem zehnköpfigen Gremium gehören unter anderen die reformierten Pfarrer Jean-Arnold de Clermont (Frankreich) als Präsident und Thomas Wipf (Schweiz) als Mitglied an. Es dient als Exekutive des 40 Mitglieder umfassenden Zentralausschusses der KEK.
An der Präsidiumssitzung wird der Generalsekretär Erzdiakon Colin Williams über die laufenden Geschäfte der KEK sowie über die zukünftigen Aufgaben dieser ökumenischen Gemeinschaft europäischer Kirchen berichten. Ausserdem nimmt das Präsidium die Tätigkeitsberichte verschiedener KEK-Kommissionen entgegen. Die Kommission “Kirche und Gesellschaft”, mit Sekretariaten in Brüssel und Strassburg, befasst sich mit sozialen, wirtschaftlichen, ethischen und umweltbezogenen Fragen im europäischen Kontext. Mit theologischen Gesprächen, etwa zwischen Orthodoxen und Protestanten, Mission, Evangelisation und den Beziehungen mit anderen religiösen Gemeinschatten befasst sich die Kommission “Kirchen im Dialog”. Die KEK arbeitet auch eng mit der in Brüssel angesiedelten unabhängigen “Kommission der Kirchen für Migranten in Europa” (KKME) zusammen, die in Kürze bei der KEK eingegliedert werden soll.
