Der Exekutivausschuss des Ökumenischen Rates der Kirchen (ÖRK) hat Anfang März konkrete Pläne gebilligt, Kirchen in aller Welt für den Frieden zu mobilisieren. Diese Initiative, die als groß angelegte Mobilisierungsstrategie geplant ist, wird mit einer Internationalen Ökumenischen Friedensversammlung abschließen, die Anfang Mai 2011 stattfinden und eine Ökumenische Erklärung zum gerechten Frieden verabschieden soll.
Den Planungen zufolge sollen rund 50 ökumenische Teams (”Lebendige Briefe”) in den Jahren 2007 bis 2011 Kirchen besuchen, die in einem von Gewalt geprägten Umfeld leben. Die Teams werden als “lebendige Briefe” konkret Solidarität zum Ausdruck bringen und versuchen, bereits gewonnene Einsichten mit anderen zu teilen und gegenseitiges Lernen zu fördern. 2007 werden mindestens drei Besuche stattfinden und in den Jahren 2008 bis 2010 sind rund 15 Besuche pro Jahr vorgesehen.

FRANKFURT – An der Spitze der Arbeitsgemeinschaft Christlicher Kirchen in Deutschland (ACK) wurde ein Wechsel vollzogen. Zum neuen Vorsitzenden wurde von den Delegierten der Kirchen auf der Mitgliederversammlung am 7./8. März 2007 in Berlin Bischof Dr. Friedrich Weber (EKD) gewählt.
Er löst den evangelisch-methodistischen Bischof em. Walter Klaiber ab, der sechs Jahre die ACK führte. Klaiber wurde in Berlin zusammen mit den anderen bisherigen Vorstandsmitgliedern, Bischöfin Maria Jepsen (EKD), Metropolit Augoustinos (OKiD), Bischof Dr. Diethardt Roth (SELK) und Bischof Heinz Algermissen (Römisch-Katholische Kirche/ DBK) verabschiedet.

DORTMUND – Die Kommission der Orthodoxen Kirche in Deutschland (KOKiD), der Verband aller orthodoxen Diözesen des Landes, hat die neusten statistischen Zahlen zur Orthodoxie in Deutschland (Stand: 1. Dezember 2006) bekanntgegeben. Danach gibt es derzeit 394 Gemeinden und feste Gottesdienststätten in der Bundesrepublik, die von 268 geistlichen (10 Bischöfen, 220 Priestern, 26 Diakonen und 8 Hypodiakonen) betreut werden.
Größtes Bistum mit 168 Gemeinden und Gottesdienststätten und 69 Priestern für rund 400.000 Gläubige ist weiterhin die Griechisch-Orthodoxe Metropolie von Deutschland, in Deutschland kleinstes Bistum das Exarchat der orthodoxen Gemeinden russischer Tradition in Westeuropa, das seinen Bischofssitz in Paris hat und dem Ökumenischen Patriarchat angehört: Es hat in Deutschland lediglich zwei Gemeinden (in Düsseldorf und Stuttgart) mit zusammen etwa 180 Gläubigen.
